The Oregon Library Association Public Library Division awarded the Pearl Award to UCSLD staff member Dea Nowell at the Oregon Library Association conference in April. The award is given to any person currently employed in any capacity in an Oregon library who has displayed exceptional effort and excellence. The annual award represents those who are like the pearl in an oyster - one who agitates, makes change over time, and is highly valued.
"Dea is all that and more to our District! Dea is an exemplary, behind the scenes asset to the District. She catalogs, oversees catalogers, and mentors catalogers across all 12 libraries. She helps with website upkeep across all 12 libraries. She’s the historian and go-to girl for all things District related! We are so thankful for Dea and her many years of dedication to the UCSLD!" - Heather Estrada
